What's Up RENO???

 RENO??? FOR REAL??? What's in RENO? 

Well, a lot actually. For one, ME. Also, my husband. Yes - my HUSBAND! I got married, but that is another post, lol. 

THIS post is about what has been going on in RENO and I can say, for creative aspects on my end, I've been writing, and re-writing, outlining and making things flow, and there will be a new film going into production soon - with my name on the title page.

Writing is re-writing. Who is our HERO and what is his journey? 

I can't wait to finish this script and have it approved, then be able to share it with the world. It has a very important message....I'm so blessed with opportunities.

Looking forward to the future!!!!! Never stop creating!

A Note To Me In 2020

Today it is 2019 - for a few hours longer...

Sitting in the warm California sun shining through the window in the early morning, I am staring out the window watching the palm branches sway, as I look through them into the houses of the Hollywood hills across the way - spa music is climaxing and the sounds of planes coming and going to different places cuts through the air - and the last beat of the symphony climbs then fades away - and I feel the sun hit my face piercing the windows so intense that I close my eyes and do not turn away - the rays soaking through my eyelids and I realize, today is a whole new day.

My name is Adra Janean Fenstermaker, but to some, I'm just called "Pain" - shortened from my roller derby name, Window Pain #47.

I have skated for film and television, as a bouting skater for the Lake Tahoe Derby Dames, performed at the Wiltern Theater, Hollywood Palladium and LA Pride in Los Angeles California.

Roller Derby was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in my lifetime. If I am never meant to play on a competitive team again, at least perhaps I can play on one in Film or Television someday...putting it in the Universe.

UNION STATUS UPDATE / ADRA JANEAN IS A SAG - AFTRA ACTRESS

That's right! No more Non-Union work for actress ADRA JANEAN! 

Sometimes it just takes a leap of faith to keep your goals on track. When YOU are the only one holding YOU back, it is time to step out of your comfort zone and head into the unknown. Making the switch from Non-Union to Union Actor was kind of scary for me, honestly. I had to give up three projects that are not SAG / AFTRA, and throw my hat into a ring that is full of talented, experienced, beautiful, hard working women, all equally deserving of the roles that are offered. With the goals I set for my career for 2014-2015 though, the Universe made me realize, that without "ripping off the band aid" as some may say, I would not be on track to fulfill my goals going into 2016. With that being said, there are many things I would like to achieve in my acting (and producing) career over my lifetime (yes, I said lifetime, this is not a fly by night hobby for me) and going SAG / AFTRA is the only way I can continue on my path. Yes, I am currently without an Agent or Manager, but that is okay by me (for now) because I am looking to surround myself with great people, a "team" that works well together like a well oiled machine. I look forward to the future, leaving behind a great body of work that evolves, changes and grows, that leaves people wanting to see more. I want to tell stories, and make magic on screen. I will be producing my own shorts over the course of the next few years, and moving into feature length films within the next five. As I build my team of creatives, filmmakers, MUA's, set designers, producers, directors, actors, distributors, public relations, location scouts, editors, costume designers...I know that making my projects SAG / AFTRA will benefit everyone working with me. As my studio head at my acting school (where I am the booking officer) said to me the other day; "You want benefits and good working conditions, right? You want to be paid fairly for your talent, right? Well, then join the F'ING UNION!!". So I did.
